It is always a special moment when we can welcome a new Rotarian ito our club! Last week President Weylin bestowed the Rotary Badge on Yenjean Hwang. She is a medical doctor specializing in infectious diseases with a practice in Orinda. She was born in Seoul, Korea and came to the US as a 4 year old, when her father was a graduate student at Cal. She moved to Lamorinda when she was 11, graduated from Miramonte High School. She attended Stanford as an undergraduate and the University of Chicago for medical school. She completed her medical training at the Unversity of Utah.  She returned to Orinda with her husband (also an MD) to open her practice and start a family.  Dr. Hwang serves as one of the medical directors for Infection Control at Alta Bates Medical Center. She is also the chairwoman of International Vision Volunteers, a charity that sends eye surgeons to Zambia several times a year to provide much-needed eye care in southern Zambia. She has 4 sons, aged 19, 17, 14, and 9.
